搬到美国后，在犹他州拿到你的第一本驾照。
流程是这样的
- 1你到了你搬到了犹他州，想在这里开车。
- 2学习许可你拿着学习驾驶许可（learner's permit）上路练车。
- 3笔试你参加笔试。
- 4路考你上车参加路考。
- 拿驾照考试通过，驾照就到手了。
费用
第一本驾照
不可退还的指纹采集费 $30，另加发证费 $32。
成人 $52，20 岁及以下申请见习驾照的人 $39。这笔费用不可退还。

如果你刚到美国
你的移民身份
非美国公民只要出示符合要求的合法居留证明，就会拿到有效期受限的 D 类（Class D）驾照，可以开普通机动车，但不能开商用车或摩托车。
办理驾驶特许卡（Driving Privilege Card）的指纹采集服务商名单在 dld.utah.gov/dpc-fingerprint-vendors。
没有到期日的国外证件
如果你的合法居留证件上没有到期日，你的有限期驾照自签发之日起一年有效。否则，驾照会在你的合法居留截止日或五年之后到期，以先到者为准。
如果你没有可以转换的驾照
如果你已满 19 岁，就必须完成主管部门批准的驾驶培训课程，或者满足州法规定的替代条件——哪怕你已经开了很多年车，也不能直接去参加考试。另外，你必须是犹他州居民才能领到驾照。
需要带的材料
- 仍在有效期内的证件你的材料必须是原件，或者带有钢印、印章或签名的经认证的复印件，并且都不能过期。
你的社会安全号码（SSN）
提供你的号码，以及谁能看到
驾照管理处会把你的社会安全号码（SSN）存进它的电子记录里；申请驾驶特许卡（Driving Privilege Card）的人，存的则是国税局（IRS）签发的临时识别号码或其他获准使用的识别号。这个号码不会印在驾照上。
自 2025 年五月 7 日起，驾照和身份证申请表同时也是选民申请邮寄选票的地方（这项申请每八年重新提交一次），表上还会收集你社会安全号码的后四位，作为投票时的备用身份识别信息。
要参加的考试
视力检查
你至少要有一只眼睛达到 20/40 的视力，并且侧向视野达到 90 度；在驾照办公室办理的每一次申请都要做这项检查，65 岁及以上的人每次申请驾照也都要做。如果戴不戴眼镜都达不到标准，你必须提交眼科医生出具的说明，写明你的视力状况和建议的驾驶限制。

路考
首次领取驾照，你必须通过实际驾驶技能考试。
笔试有几次机会
只要驾照管理处安排得开，你一天可以参加两次笔试。如果考砸之后离开了办公室，想再考就必须另外预约一次笔试补考。
你一天可以考两次。三次都没通过之后，就要再交一次费用。
交一次费用，可以在 12 个月内考三次笔试。你的笔试成绩有效期是 18 个月；如果你更新学习驾驶许可，或者让它过期了，就必须重新参加笔试。
笔试没通过，要通过单独的补考预约重新约考，不能走一般的申请预约。
如果笔试没有通过，你必须预约补考。

练车时谁能坐在你旁边
必须有一位年满 21 岁的持照司机坐在你旁边。
坐在你旁边的人必须是持照的父母、法定监护人、经批准的驾驶教练，或者为你签署财务责任担保的负责成年人。车上可以载其他乘客，你还必须随身带着学习驾驶许可。
只有在持照的父母、法定监护人、经批准的驾驶教练，或者为你签署财务责任担保的负责成年人坐在旁边时，你才可以开车。车上可以载其他乘客。
路考当天带什么
谁陪你去
驾驶技能考试期间，车上只允许你和考官在场。
必须有一位年满 21 岁的持照司机陪你去办公室，或者由年满 18 岁的父母、监护人或配偶陪同。要出示对方有效的驾照，还要出示你的学习驾驶许可或驾照证明、有效的车辆登记和有效的保险。

考试用车和保险
考试用车必须在后车牌上显示当前有效的车辆登记（自 2025 年一月 1 日起不再要求前车牌），并且要有前后转向灯、能正常工作的刹车灯、能响的喇叭、没有磨秃的轮胎、足够的刹车压力、能摇下来的驾驶位车窗、完全没有遮挡的挡风玻璃、两面后视镜（其中一面装在驾驶位左侧车外）、里外都能打开的前门、固定安装的副驾驶座椅、能用的安全带，以及能用的紧急制动或驻车制动。车内还必须干净，没有多余的杂物和异味。
技能考试期间不能使用自动泊车、定速巡航这类驾驶辅助功能。
遇到可能让驾驶变得不安全的情况，驾照管理处不会安排技能考试——比如天气恶劣，或者车辆没有登记、不安全，例如挡风玻璃破裂或没有安全带。
自 2025 年一月 1 日起不再要求前车牌；考试用车只需要在后车牌上显示当前有效的车辆登记。
驾驶技能考试的车辆由你自己提供，车辆必须登记齐全，并符合车辆安全法规，包括安全带能正常使用。如果车况可能伤到考官本人或弄脏他的衣服，这辆车会被拒绝。
车辆由你提供，必须已经登记、干净、没有多余的杂物和异味，并且可以安全驾驶。
