有效年检贴纸或官方的“无需年检贴纸”（No Inspection Sticker Required）卡、有效车辆注册卡、有效保险卡或电子保险凭证、安全考官必须能从副驾驶座使用紧急制动并够到脚刹或驻车制动、租来的车只有在申请人被列为附加驾驶人且达到合同年龄时才可以用、租用驾校车辆是允许的。26

带一辆已注册、年检贴纸在有效期内并有保险卡的车，而且安全考官必须能从副驾驶座够到紧急制动。考试前会先检查车辆：带自动泊车功能的车、年检贴纸过期或缺失、刹车被挡住够不到、车窗贴膜，或者刹车不好、轮胎不安全之类的缺陷，都会让你整个预约作废。28
考官可以只因为车的问题就拒绝考试，完全不让你开。公布的拒绝清单包括：年检贴纸、考官够不到刹车、刹车、车灯、轮胎、安全带、后视镜或玻璃有缺陷、驾驶位或前门车窗贴膜、车内不够整洁、发动机怠速过快、车门或车窗从里面打不开；摩托车和助力车考试还包括没有头盔、护目镜或面罩未经批准、没有 100 英尺外能听到的铃或喇叭。29
