夏威夷州驾照
搬到美国后，在夏威夷州拿到你的第一张驾照。
流程是这样的
- 1抵达你搬到了夏威夷州，想在这里开车。
- 2学习许可你拿着学习驾驶许可（learner permit）上路练车。
- 3笔试你参加笔试。
- 4路考你上车参加路考。
- 拿到驾照你通过考试，驾照就到手了。
费用
第一张驾照
有限用途驾照或许可的费用与对应的普通驾照或许可相同——没有为它单独定价。
1、2、3 或 4 类驾照：七年期 $70，六年期 $60，五年期 $50。
1、2、3 或 4 类驾照的短期选项：三年期 $30，一年期 $10；80 岁及以上的驾驶人两年期驾照付 $20。
申请时缴纳。
如果你刚到美国
你的移民身份
夏威夷州提供有限用途的学习驾驶许可（instruction permit）、见习驾照（provisional license）和驾照，申请时不要求提交合法居留的证明文件，也不要求提供社会安全号码（SSN）证明。
没有到期日的外国证件
持有美国其他任何州、哥伦比亚特区、波多黎各、美属萨摩亚、关岛、北马里亚纳群岛或加拿大任何省份驾照的人，夏威夷州免除其考试。持有上述地区外加美属维尔京群岛驾照的人，则完全不需要持有夏威夷州驾照。
你需要的材料
- 仍在有效期内的证件你出示的每份证明文件都必须是未过期的有效原件或经认证的复印件。经公证的复印件和传真件都不被接受。
你的社会安全号码（SSN）
什么时候要给号码，谁能看到它
如果你符合领取社会安全号码（SSN）的条件，就必须在申请表上写明这个号码，连同你的居住地址和任何营业地址。
如果你申请有限用途驾照，考官不得要求你提供任何关于你是否符合领取社会安全号码（SSN）条件的信息。
考官不得把你的社会安全号码（SSN）印在签发或更新的驾照上。这条规则管的是驾照卡片本身，不涉及是否收集这个号码。
要参加的考试
视力检查
每位申请人都要接受视力检查，考官还可以加做任何其认为有必要的身体检查，来判断你是否适合开车；更新驾照时也要再做一次视力检查。视力问题必须在考试前矫正好——眼镜或隐形眼镜要戴上，不能落在家里——而且夏威夷州没有公布类似 20/40 这样的视力标准。
路考
考摩托车、小型摩托车或助力车时，你参加的是一场关于道路规则、公路标志和安全驾驶的专门笔试，外加一场非公路场地技能测试——不是普通笔试，也不是上路的路考。
只要你缴纳规定费用，并让驾驶考官满意地看到你能驾驶所申请类别的车辆，驾照就会签发。
笔试可以考几次
在檀香山，笔试没通过要等七天才能再考，每次考试都要付全额 $12 费用——没通过也不退。考试次数没有上限，但一天最多考两次。
笔试没通过后必须至少等一周，而且必须允许你在三十天内重考。这条规则适用于全州，且不限制考试次数。
笔试练习题
驾驶手册两次印刷之间规则或法律可能有变动，所以纸质版可能已经过时。商店出售的版本印刷于 2023 年五月，封面定价 $7.49。
《夏威夷驾驶手册》、摩托车手册和商用驾照（CDL）手册都由州机动车安全办公室发布，网址是 hidot.hawaii.gov/highways/library/motor-vehicle-safety-office。虽然各县各自组织考试，全州用的是同一套手册。
拿着许可练车
练车时谁可以坐在你旁边
车辆行驶的整个过程中，这位持照人必须坐在你旁边的乘客座位上。
陪同监督你的驾驶人必须年满二十一岁，并持有你所驾驶车辆类别的驾照。
任何年龄练车都必须有人监督——成年人拿着许可独自练车也是违规。除了摩托车或小型摩托车，坐在你旁边的人必须年满 21 岁，并持有同一类别车辆的驾照。
监督人必须年满 21 岁并持有驾驶该类车辆的驾照；除摩托车外，其他车辆上监督人必须坐在右前座。这条规则同样适用于持许可的成年人；申请学习驾驶许可（instruction permit）你必须年满 15½ 岁。
路考要带什么
谁陪你去
必须有一位持照驾驶人陪你去考试站——只拿学习驾驶许可（instruction permit），没有这位监督驾驶人陪同，你自己开车过去是不合法的。
送你来的持照驾驶人不能跟车：考试期间车里不允许有乘客，所以他们在考试站等你。
必须有一位持照驾驶人陪你去考试站，你还必须自备一辆处于安全行驶状态的车。考试期间不允许有乘客。
这条规则只要求“一位持照驾驶人”陪你来——没有对这个人设定最低年龄、驾照类别或与你的关系。这一点不同于拿许可练车时的监督规则——那条规则确实要求对方年满 21 岁。
考试用车和它的保险
如果不能出示这辆车的有效保险卡，考官不会给你签发驾照。
考试车辆由你自己提供。车必须处于安全行驶状态，注册在有效期内，有在有效期内的安全检验证明和保险卡，而且每一处安全缺陷都必须在考试前修好。
autocycle（一种封闭式三轮车）不能用于 3 类实操考试，尽管 3 类驾照允许你驾驶这种车。如果 autocycle 是你唯一的车，考试就需要另外借一辆或租一辆。
你带来的车必须注册在有效期内，有在有效期内的安全检验证明和保险卡，且每一处安全缺陷都在考试前修好。安全检验证明是授权修车行发的贴纸，所以刚从美国本土运来的车要先做完这项检验，才能用来考试。
你自己提供的这辆车必须满足四点：处于安全行驶状态、注册在有效期内、有在有效期内的安全检验证明、有保险卡。安全检验是最容易卡住刚从其他州搬来的人的一项，而且还必须有一位持照驾驶人陪你——所以借不到车也借不到驾驶人的话，你就没法参加考试。
在驾驶演示过程中，你必须出示考试用车的有效机动车保险卡或责任保险卡。

考试由谁来考
每个县的行政长官任命本县的驾驶考官——都是住在该县、驾驶熟练的人。这些考官负责评判首次申请人和更新驾照申请人的资格与驾驶能力。
