如果你刚到美国
你的移民身份
作为临时居民，你只要出示符合要求的材料，证明你的完整法定姓名、出生日期、社会安全号码（SSN，如果曾经获发）、俄亥俄州的街道住址、在美国的合法停留身份，以及在本州的临时居住，就可以拿到一张不可更新的驾照。
没有截止日期的外国证件
如果你在美国的准许停留期没有截止日期，你的限期驾照自签发之日起最长有效一年。如果有截止日期，驾照有效期到该日期为止，或自签发起满四年，以先到者为准。
俄亥俄州没有公布过针对没有截止日期的外国驾照的规定。互认免试只适用于互认协议国家签发、有效且未过期的驾照，所以你的驾照最终怎么办，由驾照代办处（deputy registrar）决定。
你的社会安全号码（SSN）
什么时候提供号码，谁能看到
作为临时居民，只有在你曾经获发过社会安全号码（SSN）的情况下，你才需要提供它。
如果你在网上参加笔试，需要提供完整法定姓名、出生日期和社会安全号码（SSN），这些信息会通过电子方式核验。
要参加的考试
视力检查
如果笔试没通过，你必须至少等一天才能重考。
如果无论戴不戴矫正镜片，你的视力都达不到无视力限制驾照的要求，你会被转介给你自己选择的眼科医生或持照验光师，进行矫正或检查。
这项检查确认你符合俄亥俄州签发驾照的视力标准。
如果双眼都有视觉，且不戴矫正镜片时双眼综合视力达到 20/40 或更好，你会拿到不带视力限制的驾照。
如果你在网上参加笔试，视力检查会在你购买临时许可时，在任意一家驾照代办处（deputy registrar license agency）进行。
路考
考标准四轮车时，只要每个部分的扣分都不超过 25 分，你就通过了。

拿着许可练车
练车时谁可以陪你
如果你驾驶时使用双光望远镜装置（bioptic device），你的受限临时学车许可只有在经认证的驾驶训练与评估项目的工作人员，或受过相应培训的车管局（BMV）考官陪同时才有效。
持 TIPIC（临时学车许可），只有在年满 21 岁的持照司机陪同时你才能练车。
如果你已满 18 岁，只有在年满 21 岁的持照司机坐在车里陪同时你才能练车。
路考要带什么
考试用的车和保险
考试前会先检查车辆：转向灯、刹车灯、喇叭、雨刷和大灯必须正常，前门必须能用把手从车内和车外打开。车辆注册必须在有效期内并展示在车牌上，自动泊车等自动辅助功能必须关闭。

如果你使用双光望远镜装置（bioptic device），你的驾驶考试由至少两名受过相应培训的车管局（BMV）考官主持。
商用驾照（CDL）技能考试可以在州立 CDL 考试站或第三方考试机构参加。
