El estado te pide tu número de Seguro Social (SSN, por sus siglas en inglés) conforme a la ley federal (42 U.S.C. § 405(c)(2)(C)(i), 42 U.S.C. § 666(a)(13)(A), 6 C.F.R. § 37.11(e), 49 C.F.R. § 383.153) y a la ley de Texas (Texas Family Code § 231.302(c)(1), Texas Transportation Code §§ 521.142 y 522.021).8
El Departamento usa tu número de Seguro Social para identificarte y solo lo divulga según lo autoriza la sección 521.044 del Texas Transportation Code.9
Dar tu número de Seguro Social es obligatorio cuando solicitas una licencia de conducir o una tarjeta de identidad; el departamento lo ingresa en su base de datos electrónica, pero no lo imprime en la tarjeta.10
Tu número de Seguro Social solo se puede divulgar a la división de manutención infantil de la oficina del attorney general, a la agencia de manutención infantil de otro estado, al United States Selective Service System, a la división de propiedad no reclamada de la oficina del comptroller, a la Health and Human Services Commission, al secretary of state para el registro de votantes o las elecciones, o a la agencia de licencias de conducir de otro estado.11

Si no cumples los requisitos para manejar en Texas, un conductor con licencia tiene que llevar el vehículo hasta la oficina de licencias y el área del examen, y también tiene que llevarte de regreso si no te emiten una licencia.14
El vehículo y su seguro
Puedes usar la cámara de reversa de tu vehículo para estacionarte en paralelo durante el examen de manejo, pero no se permite una función automática de estacionamiento del vehículo.15
No se puede usar para el examen de manejo un vehículo que lleve placas temporales de cartón de un concesionario.16
El vehículo que uses para el examen de manejo tiene que corresponder a la clase de licencia de la solicitud, y tienes que presentar una prueba de responsabilidad financiera a menos que el vehículo esté exento.17
