Tu estatus migratorio
Si eres residente temporal, puedes recibir una licencia de conducir o una tarjeta de identidad no renovable si presentas documentos que verifiquen tu nombre legal completo, tu fecha de nacimiento, tu número de Seguro Social (SSN, por sus siglas en inglés) si alguna vez te asignaron uno, tu dirección en Ohio y tu presencia legal en Estados Unidos.4
Los residentes temporales con presencia legal reciben una licencia de conducir de plazo limitado, no renovable ni transferible, válida por el tiempo que dure su estadía; los residentes permanentes que presentan una Tarjeta de Residente Permanente (Green Card) reciben una licencia de conducir normal.3
Si tu licencia de otro estado venció
Si tu licencia de conducir de otro estado está vencida, no la puedes transferir y tienes que completar el proceso de exámenes para obtener una licencia de conducir de Ohio.5
Si tu licencia de conducir de otro estado lleva vencida más de seis meses, no cumples los requisitos para que te eximan de los exámenes y tienes que completar todo el proceso de exámenes para una licencia de Ohio.6

Si no alcanzas la agudeza visual que se exige sin restricciones, te remiten a un oftalmólogo o a un optometrista con licencia que tú elijas, y no te hacen más exámenes hasta que presentes pruebas suficientes de que tu vista mejoró lo necesario.12
Recibes una licencia sin restricciones de visión con una agudeza de 20/40 en ambos ojos juntos o de 20/30 en un ojo, y un campo visual de 70 grados a cada lado. Una agudeza menor, hasta 20/70 en ambos ojos o 20/60 en un ojo, o un campo de 70/45 grados, trae restricciones de manejo de día o de espejos. Una agudeza peor que 20/70 en ambos ojos o 20/60 en un ojo se rechaza.13
Si tomas el examen teórico en línea, el examen de la vista se hace en cualquier agencia de licencias del deputy registrar cuando compras el permiso de instrucción.14
