第一张华盛顿州身份证，6 年期是 $61，8 年期是 $81。有效期选多长由你自己定。 如果你符合减免费用的条件，标准身份证只要 $5。 增强型身份证（enhanced ID card）更贵：6 年期 $103，8 年期 $137。 法律规定，身份证的费用按发证年限计算，每年 $10。 如果你无家可归，一生可以免费办一张身份证。

只要你手上没有一张有效的华盛顿州驾照，就可以办华盛顿州身份证。 你还必须证明你是谁，并缴纳费用。 申请时你必须提供华盛顿州的家庭住址。表格会要你填全名、邮寄地址、华盛顿州家庭住址和电话号码。 驾照、学习驾驶许可和身份证用的是同一套申请规则。
如果你不是美国公民
华盛顿州接受你的工作许可卡（I-766 表），单独一张就能证明你是谁。 你的绿卡也一样，单独一张就能证明你是谁。 你的外国护照加上 I-94，可以证明你是谁。护照上必须有你的签名和照片。 增强型身份证（enhanced ID card）只发给美国公民。如果你不是美国公民，就申请标准身份证。 标准的华盛顿州身份证不是 REAL ID，不符合联邦对 REAL ID 证件的要求。 你的标准身份证上会印着 FEDERAL LIMITS APPLY。每一张华盛顿州标准卡都印这行字，这是正常的。

- 如果你没有自己的地址，可以问问收容所、社区组织或教会，能不能借用他们的邮寄地址。
- 没有固定家庭住址的人有一条专门的途径：你提供一个临时邮寄地址，身份证就寄到那里。

用什么证明你的号码
华盛顿州会直接向社会安全局（Social Security Administration）核对你的社会安全号码（SSN）。 即使法律不要求你提供社会安全号码，你也可以提供，这能帮办公室确认你是谁。 你的社会安全卡也算一份 B-list 身份证明文件。
如果你暂时拿不到号码
如果你没有社会安全号码（SSN），你要签一份宣誓声明，说明自己没有号码。签这份声明要承担伪证罪的法律责任。 签了这份声明之后，办公室可以要求你再交一些证明华盛顿州住址的材料。

你要亲自到场申请，去一间驾照办理办公室（driver licensing office）。 办增强型身份证（enhanced ID card），先备齐材料，再在离你近的驾照办理办公室预约。 如果你无家可归、要办身份证，不需要预约。 以后你也许可以通过邮寄或网上更新身份证，但不能连续两次都这样更新。 华盛顿州还有一辆叫 DOL2Go 的流动服务车，把办证服务开进各个社区。 华盛顿州会用自己的照片系统比对你的照片，确认你没有用另一个名字持有一张卡。
